Weight Loss Tips and News

Congratulation! You´ve made a wise decision. Being overweight is neither natural nor healthy. If you want to get rid of those extra pounds and get into a better shape, you will find a lot of useful information and tips here.

Your Weight Loss Action Plan

1) Know the Facts and Your Motivation

I don´t know you, your life and background yet, so I can´t say what your motivation for losing weight really is. Maybe you´ve already tried several different dieting programs and failed, maybe it´s your first approach to lose weight.

If you really want to lose weight and get into a better shape permanently, you must have a strong motivation for weight loss or you will most likely fail sooner or later. As the first step, try to answer these questions:

What are my real motives?
What are the benefits I will gain from losing those extra pounds?
Will it serve me any specific purpose?
Is the manner in which I´m planning to go about it skillful?

A very important fact that you need to understand right now and always keep in your mind is that losing weight and becoming healthier is a long-term commitment and there are no quick fixes to your obesity problem. Most of the weight loss programs out there are so-called "fad diets", promising you spectacular weight loss wonders. But in reality - none of those fad diets really works in the long run. Some may even cause other health problems.

2) Know the Cause for Your Obesity

In very few cases, obesity may have hereditary (genetic) or other medical causes, but in most of the cases, obesity is - simply put - the result of an un-healthy eating habit and lifetstyle. In other words: you have been eating too much and the wrong foods while neglecting your physical exercises.

Wait a moment. How the heck then can it be that some people eat more than me, move less than me and still don´t become obese ?

Well, my friend, because we are individuals and the way our bodies process food can be quite different. It´s not just a matter of the net amount of calories that are ingested but also how much of the food is digested and absorbed.

Sidenote: To better understand the processes of digestion, absorption and the role of exercise, you may read our e-book "Just the Facts". You may also want to read our other e-book "The Cure is Common", which explains genetic and non-genetic factors that can lead to obesity.
Think about you, your eating habits and your lifestyle for a moment and you will quickly find out the real cause for your overweight. Our task is to change that, but first ...

3) Set Your Goals I urge you to set a long-term goal and several short-term goals. For the long-term goal, you should create in your mind a picture of you in two or three years from now: a healthy, vital, fit and slimmer you. Try to vision yourself as the person you want to be and keep that vision in your mind all the time.

For the short-term goals, you may want to set weekly and monthly goals of weight loss. It´s very important that you set realistic goals. Losing a few pounds each week/month should be enough, but that depends on how much overweight you are. Meeting your weekly goals can be a strong motivator for you to stick to your weight loss plan. Have faith in yourself.

4) Create Your Plan

By now, you know that you must change your eating habits and your lifestyle. I recommend that you create your own daily food intake and exercise master plan. A professional nutritionist, a personal trainer or your doctor can help you creating this plan. Keep records and make adjustments. You are in control.

5) Seek Support

It’s always better to have a group of like-minded people with the same goals, facing the same problems. In a group of people, you can actively discuss about your worries and other thoughts and everyone can motivate each other. This is certainly a better way to recede any emotional stress and it´s much more fun, too.
